Yorkton Sanitary Landfill

The Planning and Engineering Department wishes to advise the public of the change in fee structure at the City of Yorkton Sanitary Landfill. These fees will be effective April 1, 2006.

As per Bylaw #6/2006, the Sanitary Landfill Fees are outlined below: 

Cars  $ 2.00
and Ton Trucks, Utility Trailers, Sport Utility, Vans $ 6.00
1 Ton Trucks, Tandem Trailers, Cube Vans  $14.00
2 and 3 Ton Trucks, Tandem Trucks  $26.00
Semi-Trailer Trucks, Fifth Wheel Trailers  $37.00
Petroleum Contaminated Soil (within City Limits) $20.00/cu. yd.
Petroleum Contaminated Soil (outside City Limits) $30.00/cu. yd.
Carcasses  - Small $24.00
- Large $44.00 
Out-of-City Garbage $ 7.00/cu. yd.
Recyclable Material $ 7.50/cu. yd
- Fee to be determined on-site by City Representative
- Vehicles 1 tonne and smaller are exempt
Construction Demolition Wastes
- Clean Wood (unpainted and untreated)  entrance fee only 
- Mixed Waste (without concrete) $ 6.00/cu. yd.
- Mixed Waste (with concrete) $25.00/cu. yd.
- Concrete/Brick Rubble (site designated by City):
Pieces smaller than 2 ft. x 2 ft. x 8 in. thick. $12.00/cu. yd.
Larger pieces $23.00/cu. yd.
- Any fill or excavated dirt that is removed from any work area must be kept free from other construction materials and must stay within the city Limits to a site that is approved by the City. The City will not charge nor will it pay for this material. No charge

Public Notice
Concrete Disposal

Please be advised that the City of Yorkton will be implementing new rates for the disposal of concrete material effective April 1, 2006 as per Bylaw #6/2006. The City will accept concrete at the designated concrete disposal site on 4th Avenue North behind the Public Works Department Shop. This site is specifically for concrete disposal from properties located within City limits. This is the only site that the City will allow any disposal of concrete. Please also be advised that a Public Works Supervisor must be on hand to estimate the amount of concrete being disposed. Please contact the Public Works Department prior to any disposal. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The charges are as follows:

Pieces 2' x 2' x 8" thick or smaller - $12/yd3 
Larger than dimension stated above - $23/yd3

Concrete that is too large for handling must be broken down prior to acceptance at the site.

The City of Yorkton will use the revenue collected from the acceptance of concrete to crush and recycle the material.

Any unauthorized dumping of concrete on city owned property without permission will result in a fine.

 Summer Programmers 

4 - Full Time Summer Culture, Recreation and Sport Programmer Positions

The programmers will be responsible for development of the Summer Programs within the City of Yorkton. You will be responsible for planning, marketing, implementing and evaluating the Summer Program for children and youth 6 -11 years of age.

  • Preference will be given to those with Recreation/Leisure training and/or related experience; 
  • Program delivery knowledge or experience; 
  • Must maintain and possess a valid Class 5 driver's license and own transportation;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Valid CPR and First Aid preferred;
  • Knowledge of computers would be an asset
$9.90 per hour (35 hours per week)

Due to their similar sizes, the respective communities have joined together to undertake a review of their out-of-scope salaries. The focus of the review is to ensure that both cities provide fair and competitive compensation in a changing labour market to retain staff and provide for succession planning.

City of Yorkton Cemetery 

Effective March 13, 2006 Leisure Services will be selling plots in Block 24 (south east corner) of the City of Yorkton Cemetery.

Plots will be sold on a first come, first served basis, in accordance with City of Yorkton Cemetery Bylaw #1/2004. All purchases must be paid in full.
