Proposed Bylaw No. 13/2009

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 13/2009, which is an amendment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 to change the zoning of Lots 7-9, Block 52, Plan 66Y09711, civically known as 259 Circlebrooke Drive, from IN Institutional to CZ Contract Zone. The proposed Contract Zone intends to provide for the permitted use of a Boarding/Lodging Home, Residential Care Facility and/or Seniors Assisted Living Facility.

The proposed zoning bylaw amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday May 22, 2009.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday May 25, 2009 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00 p.m. All submissions must be submitted in writing by 12:00 noon Thursday May 21, 2009 to Bonnie Schenher, City Clerk. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

  • Handle day to day telephone and reception duties
  • Maintain and update the filing system for the Parks Shop

  • Receive inquiries and forward information regarding sports field maintenance, pest and weed control, urban forestry issues and other parks and open spaces issues
  • Requires the ability to maintain a positive and pleasant attitude while dealing with the users, general public and other staff


  • Grade XII Education
  • Good Public relations skills
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and CLASS software program
  • Possess and maintain a valid class 5 drivers license
  • Possess and maintain RCMP security clearance


Monday to Friday
Casual Hours – Spring to Fall hours consisting of 5 hours per day and Winter hours consisting of 2-5 hours per week.

Job Opportunity
Part Time/Student - Arena Labourer I GC

Reporting directly to the General Manager.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Arena Labourer will be performing various duties related to the general operation and maintenance of the new multi-purpose Gallagher Centre.
  • Daily operation and maintenance of various types of equipment and all areas of the facility, excluding the Water Park.
  • Maintaining ice at the Arena.
  • Performing set-up and take-down duties for various events and functions.
  • Monitoring facility operating systems and reporting situations requiring attention.
  • Completes other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.


  • Grade 10 education
  • Possess strong interpersonal and public relation skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Possess the ability to understand and comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.
  • Possession of a current CPR and First Aid certificate is an asset.


Will be paid as an “Arena Labourer I” in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local #342.

Hours of Work:

Shift work, evening and weekend work is involved  (15-20 hours per week) for the term of the position; May – August.

Sealed bids clearly marked "City of Yorkton, Sidewalk Replacement Tender" will be received up to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009 and should be sent to:
