Business License Fees

Business Licenses are required by anyone who conducts business in the City of Yorkton.  Business Licenses are to be displayed in a prominent location within the business.
Pursuant to the adoption of Business License Bylaw 8/2006, fees for Business Licenses are outlined below.  A Business License shall not be issued nor considered valid without payment of the following fees:

The Protective Services Committee is comprised of up to nine members that are appointed by Council.  The Committee meets on the third Tuesday of every month, with the exception of July and August.

The purpose of the Committee is to:

  • Advise Council on matters of policy and priorities regarding the safety and protection of people and property  within the City, specifically those services provided by Police, Fire, Ambulance, Emergency Measures, 911, and Bylaw Enforcement.
  • Review and recommend policies and bylaws and identify the social and economic implications of its recommendations for Council and review matters of a protective services nature that Council has referred to it.

Bylaw No. 44/2008 “Appointment of a Protective Services Committee” defines the eligibility, rules, guidelines, and roles of the members that sit on the committee or those who would like to participate as a member of the committee.

Boat Operator Accredited Training
Everyone operating a Pleasure Craft must obtain a federally mandated Pleasure Craft Operator Card, and the Lifesaving Society offers a Coast Guard Approved Program.
The Gallagher Centre Water Park is a certified testing and teaching facility. Challenge the exam or take the full course!

Our next course runs: Saturday March 13th, 2010 from 8am-5pm.
Cost is: $74.50 materials included.
Challenge the exam for $27.00 with a $15.00 cost for a manual (recommended)

Building Permits

Please note, that pursuant to City of Yorkton Bylaw No. 28/2002, all persons in the City of Yorkton intending to construct, erect, place, alter, repair, renovate, demolish, relocate, remove, or change occupancy of any building within the City of Yorkton are required to apply to the Building Services Department of the City of Yorkton and pay such fees as is described in Bylaw 28/2002.  Please note:  Certain proposed projects may firstly require a Development Permit.  Incomplete building permit applications may experience delays in their issuance.

This gym time is intended for families to participate in recreation together. Therefore, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Activities Exchange Program

The Activities Exchange Program is a project of Partners in Settlement and Integration in partnership with the City of Yorkton.

This project aims to support immigrant integration into the community through sports and recreation.

We are looking for hockey skates Size 9 and up. If you have any skates that you would be willing to donate, please drop them off at the Leisure Services desk at
City Hall, 37 - 3rd Avenue North

The project is open to newcomers to Canada who are living in the area and also to Canadians who would like to be a part of the integration process of newcomers to our area.
