City of Yorkton Honours 2025 Civic Recognition Award Recipients

The City of Yorkton is proud to recognize the recipients of the 2025 Civic Recognition Awards, who were honoured at a ceremony held at Yorkton City Hall on February 23, 2026, prior to the Regular Council Meeting.
This year’s recipients are:
- Youth Civic Recognition Award: Danica Keyowski
- Adult Civic Recognition Award: Thom Weir
- Group Civic Recognition Award: Yorkton Lions Club
The Civic Recognition Awards celebrate individuals and groups who have made meaningful contributions to the Yorkton community through leadership, volunteerism, service, and community involvement.
“These awards are about more than recognition,” said Mayor Aaron Kienle. “They’re a chance to celebrate the people and organizations who keep showing up for Yorkton. Danica Keyowski, Thom Weir, and the Yorkton Lions Club represent the kind of leadership, service, and community spirit that makes our city stronger. Yorkton is a better community because of people and groups like these.”
2025 Award Recipients

Danica Keyowski was recognized in the Youth category for her strong record of volunteerism, leadership, academic achievement, and community involvement, including service with local organizations and school-based initiatives.

Thom Weir was recognized in the Adult category for decades of dedicated community service in Yorkton, including leadership and volunteer contributions in agriculture, tourism, heritage, sports, and community organizations.

The Yorkton Lions Club was recognized in the Group category for its longstanding service to Yorkton and area, including community-building initiatives and the continued development of Wonders of Winter.
The City of Yorkton extends sincere thanks to Yorkton Legacy Co-op for supporting the Civic Recognition Awards by donating $100 gift cards for each award category.
