City Announces New Naming Rights for Ice Arena
YORKTON, Sask. — The City of Yorkton is pleased to announce a new naming rights partnership with the SoakZone Auto Spa for the ice arena at the Gallagher Centre. Starting October 1, 2026, the facility will be known as the SoakZone Auto Spa Arena for the next 10 years.
Naming rights partnerships provide an opportunity for businesses to invest directly in community facilities while generating additional revenue for the City. These partnerships help support the long-term sustainability of public amenities, while connecting local businesses with the spaces and activities that bring residents together.
This collaboration represents a long-term investment in one of Yorkton’s busiest recreational and event spaces.
“Partnerships like this allow us to find new ways to support the facilities our residents use and enjoy,” said Mayor Aaron Kienle. “The Gallagher Centre is an important part of our community, and this 10-year partnership with SoakZone Auto Spa represents a significant investment in its future. We’re pleased to have a local business step forward and make that long-term commitment to Yorkton.”
During the winter, the ice arena is a hub of activity with hockey practices, games and tournaments taking place throughout the season, along with figure skating practices and competitions. The arena also offers public skating opportunities, providing a chance for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the ice. Local hockey tournaments, skating events, and other competitions bring athletes, families and spectators to the Gallagher Centre throughout the winter.
Outside of the ice season, the arena is available for dry-floor rentals and hosts a variety of events, including the annual Harvest Showdown, concerts, car shows, and other community events.
“Our families are incredibly proud to have the SoakZone Auto Spa name on a place that means so much to Yorkton and the surrounding area,” said co-owner Evan Johnson. “The truth is, we spend a lot of time at this arena. Our kids have grown up playing sports here, we’re here several times a week throughout the winter, and we’ve made a lot of great memories in this building. To now see our name on the arena is pretty special for all of us.”
Co-owner Mike Popowich added, “Yorkton has been very good to us, and we’ve always believed in supporting the community that supports our business. The Gallagher Centre is such an important gathering place for Yorkton and the entire region. It brings people together for hockey, skating, events and so much more, while also welcoming thousands of visitors to our city every year. We’re really proud to make this investment and excited to see the SoakZone Auto Spa Arena become part of the community for years to come.”
The City looks forward to this exciting new chapter and the upcoming season at the SoakZone Auto Spa Arena.
