Urban Hen Licence Applications Open June 1

Yorkton residents can soon apply for an urban hen licence through the City of Yorkton’s Urban Hen Program.

Applications open Monday, June 1, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. through the official Urban Hen Program webpage:

Only five urban hen licences are available city-wide. A maximum of five hens may be kept at each licensed residence.

The webpage includes program requirements, policy details, information on how licences will be issued, the waitlist process, and an option to subscribe for updates or changes.

Residents should not purchase or install a coop, build a run, or make yard modifications unless they receive an approved urban hen licence. If a licence is not obtained, the cost of removing any coop, run, or related yard modifications is the homeowner’s responsibility.
