Revaluation 2025

The 2025 Assessment Roll will open mid-March.

Provincial legislation requires that the assessed value of all properties within Saskatchewan be updated every four years. This process is called revaluation. Property values change over time due to changing market conditions so it is important that the data that is available reflects these changes.

2025 is a revaluation year and property assessments were updated to reflect property values as of January 1, 2023.

To update the value of your home,  Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (the City appraisers) reviewed four years of sales transaction information in Yorkton from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2022. Different sources of verification are done to ensure that the data used is most accurate and fair.

It means that the assessed value of your property will most likely change. Since the value of your property is one factor that influences your property tax rates (City budget also being a factor), revaluation may impact property taxes. Some taxes will go up and some will go down depending on how much your property value increased or decreased compared to other properties in the City.   Once budget and tax policy is completed in May, we will know how this change will affect your taxes.

Property tax rates will be finalized with tax policy in May 2025 when the budget and revaluation changes are complete.

Watch for your Property Tax Notice being mailed in May 2025.

Most assessment related questions and concerns can be resolved by speaking with an appraiser (SAMA), with no formal appeal process required. They will review your property details to ensure the information used to assess your property is correct.

Call 306-786-1370 or 1-800-498-0576.

If, after speaking to an appraiser, you wish to continue the appeal process, you may file a formal appeal with the Board of Revision.
