Resident Business Licences
A Resident Business Licence is for permanent businesses operating within the City of Yorkton. There are 2 types: Commercial or Home Based. Both have a $100 fee.
Commercial Business
- Fill out the Informal Development Permit Application
- Obtain a Building Permit for any renovations or construction
- Depending on the scope of business, you may also need:
- Fire inspection (Yorkton Fire Protective Services)
- Gas, Electrical and Plumbing Permits/inspections (TSASK)
- Public Health inspection (Sask Health Authority)
- Depending on the scope of business, you may also need:
- Fill out the Business Licence Application Form
- Once all inspection approvals are received (if applicable), your licence will be processed and an invoice emailed
- After you've paid and received your Business Licence Certificate, you may begin operating

Home Based Business
If you are operating out of a home within the City of Yorkton, please see Procedures and Requirements for Home Bases Businesses. If your business is conducted at another person's property but your home is your "office", you are still classified as Home Based.
- Fill out the Business Licence Application Form
- Once your licence is processed, you will be emailed your invoice
- After you've paid and received your Business Licence Certificate, you may begin operating

All Business Licences expire every year on December 31.
