Social Media Terms of Use

The City of Yorkton maintains official social media accounts (such as Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn) to share information and engage with the community. These Terms of Use explain how the City manages its social media presence and what is expected from participants.

Purpose

Our social media channels are intended to:

• Share news, updates, and information from the City.
• Provide an additional way for residents to engage with the City.
• Encourage respectful, constructive dialogue about City services, programs, and initiatives.

User Conduct

We encourage open discussion but reserve the right to moderate content to maintain a safe and respectful space. The City will remove or hide comments that include:

• Personal attacks, harassment, threats, or discriminatory remarks.
• Hate speech, profanity, or sexually explicit content.
• Promotion of illegal activity or incitement of violence.
• Spam, advertising, or repetitive posts not related to the topic.
• Posting of personal or confidential information (including your own or others’).
• Posting plagiarized, copyrighted, or otherwise unlawful material.
• Promotion of political candidates, parties, or partisan political material.

Repeat or serious violations may result in users being blocked from the City’s accounts.

Public Record Notice

Content posted on the City of Yorkton’s official social media channels may be considered a record under The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (LA FOIP). This means:

• Comments, replies, messages, and other interactions may be retained by the City.
• Such records may be subject to access-to-information requests under LA FOIP.
• While some personal information may be withheld under privacy exemptions, users should avoid posting sensitive personal details on these platforms.

Please note:
