Firefighter Recruitment
A career in firefighting is more than a job - it's a calling.
As a Yorkton firefighter, you'll be responsible for:
- Fire suppression
- Rescue operations

- Confined space entry rescue
This role demands commitment, resilience and a passion for helping others. Our firefighters are on call 24/7, 365 days a year - including holidays.
Firefighting requires ongoing training, physical fitness, mental preparedness, and a strong sense of duty. Safety - yours and other' - depends on your skills and your dedication to continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements:
To apply, you must have:
- NFPA 1001 Level I & II I.F.S.A.C Firefighter Certification
- Preference is given to graduates of recognized fire colleges or equivalent NFPA/IFSAC certifications.

Recruitment Process
Step 1

Step 2
Aptitude Testing
Shortlisted applicants will complete a written exam to assess their knowledge of fire service operations and standards.
Step 3
Physical Fitness Testing
This rigorous test is conducted at the Fire Hall and simulates real firefighting tasks. It will assess your strength, stamina, and readiness for duty.
Step 4
Panel Interview
Successful candidates will be invited to an interview panel. We'll evaluate your experience, decision-making skills, teamwork, and character.
Step 5
Background Checks
Applicants must provide:
- Professional references
- Satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
- Satisfactory driver's abstract
