The Yorkton Detachment offers four types of Police Record Checks to Yorkton residents. It is the applicant's responsibility to know what level they require. Yorkton RCMP staff do not make that decision:

Fees

The Yorkton Detachment charges a $40* fee paid to the City of Yorkton for Criminal Record/ Vulnerable Sector Checks for Yorkton Detachment jurisdiction only. If you live outside of the Yorkton Detachment's jurisdiction you must attend to your local RCMP Detachment. *Fees are subject to change without notice.

Applying for a Criminal Record Check

To apply for a Criminal Record Check, the applicant must attend, in person at the Yorkton Detachment located at 37 Third Avenue North, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday excluding Statutory Holidays.

Reminder you must present two pieces of identification, a mandatory letter from the organization requesting the Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check. One photo identification which can be a Saskatchewan driver's licence or SGI identification card, both must have a current Yorkton address. The other identification can be a Saskatchewan health card, birth certificate, treaty card, status card, Possession and Acquisition firearms license or passport. Completed checks will only be given to the applicant with photo identification.

Yorkton Detachment times for Civil Digital Fingerprints are on Tuesday to Thursday between the hours of 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

To obtain a detailed synopsis of your criminal record you must be fingerprinted.

RCMP in Ottawa requires a $50.00 money order payable to the “Receiver General For Canada”
RCMP will respond with a certified copy of your criminal record directly to the applicant

What is a Criminal Record Check?

This check is intended for applicants who are involved as a volunteer, employee or in any situation where a basic Criminal Record Check is requested (e.g., retail or immigration).

You must be a current resident within the Yorkton Detachment's jurisdiction and have proof of that address.

Summary convictions

What does a Criminal Record not include?

Outstanding entries, such as charges and warrants
Absolute and conditional discharges unless the order received through the court process by the accused individual is still valid and police enforceable. Once the court order is end dated and or expired, absolute and conditional discharges will no longer be disclosed.
Convictions where a pardon/record suspension has been granted

What is a Vulnerable Sector Check?

The Vulnerable Sector Check is restricted to applicants seeking employment and/or volunteering in a position of authority or trust relative to vulnerable persons in Canada only. It is a collection of offence information, including convictions, outstanding warrants, charges, judicial orders and sexual offence convictions for which the individual has received a record suspension where authorized by the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Non-conviction information shall be released only when it meets the Exceptional Disclosure Assessment.

You must be a current resident within the Yorkton Detachment's jurisdiction and have proof of that address to request this record check.

What does a Vulnerable Sector Check include?

Absolute and conditional discharges from local police held databases.
All record suspensions as authorized for release by the Minister of Public Safety.
Criminal convictions from CPIC and/or local databases.
In exceptional cases, where it meets the Public Safety Test, non-conviction dispositions including, but not limited to, Withdrawn and Dismissed.
Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of Mental Disorder.
Outstanding entries, such as charges and warrants, judicial orders, peace bonds, probation and prohibition orders, as per CPIC policy.
Summary convictions from CPIC and/or local databases.
Youth Criminal Justice Act findings of guilt will be released on applications to government institutions/organizations.
