 FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Houselessness is a result of many contributing factors. The City of Yorkton is committed to working with stakeholders and local community-based organizations to ensure resources are available and to strengthen the community's ability to respond to challenges related to mental health, addictions, and houselessness.

If you come across a tent or temporary structure that appears unsafe, please contact Bylaw Services at 306-786-1725 or report it using the "Notify for Unsafe Housing" button below.
When reporting, include the location and any relevant details, such as whether individuals have been seen near the structure or any observations related to potential criminal activity. If additional information is needed, Bylaw Services may follow up with you directly.
Please note: If the tent or temporary shelter is located on private property, the RCMP must be contacted to investigate the matter as a possible trespassing issue.

You can make a difference for those experiencing houselessness. Donate to local food banks, shelters, or support organizations - or simply offer a kind word. Respect and dignity matter.

In some cases, individuals experiencing houselessness may search through garbage bins for food, refundable containers, or other items essential to their survival. If you are concerned for someone's well-being, please contact Bylaw Services at 306-786-1725. For emergencies or situations requiring immediate assistance, call 911.

If you come across a discarded needle or other drug paraphernalia, please contact Bylaw Services at 306-786-1725. A Community Safety Officer will be dispatched to safely dispose of the item.
