CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS

Previously, attendance at Council meetings has been restricted to adhere to Provincial Health Orders due to COVID-19. To accommodate the continuance of meetings, in accordance with The Cities Act and per normal procedures, meetings have been streamed online, and broadcast on Access 7 cable to provide access for the public in electronic format.


Effective June 22, 2020 the Provincial Re-Open Plan has permitted indoor gatherings of up to 30 people. Social distancing of 2 metres (6 feet) is still a requirement, and seating space in Council Chambers will be reserved for Members of City Council, Administration, and scheduled delegations. Any remaining seats may be filled by members of the public on a first come, first served basis.


New regulations will be applied at the next Council Meeting on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 5:00p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 37 Third Avenue North, Yorkton. These regulations will be in place until further notice.


Council Meetings are always streamed live online at www.yorkton.ca and broadcast on Access 7 cable.

Sections 213 to 227 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007
City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003

407 Ball Road is a property subject to a Development Appeals Board Hearing. The appellant applied for a Development Permit for a shipping container storage unit at the above noted location within an MI-1 Light Industrial Zoning District. The location of the shipping container storage unit contravenes the City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 as follows:

  1. Proposed setbacks: Side - 6 ft., Rear - 0 ft.

For that reason, the Development Permit has been denied. The applicant has appealed the refusal, and is requesting variance of the Zoning Bylaw requirements to the parameters described above.

This appeal will be heard by the Development Appeals Board for the City of Yorkton at 5:10 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2020 in Council Chambers, Main Floor, City Hall. Should you have any comments, either in favour of or opposed to the appeal, you may either voice them at the Development Appeals Board Hearing or you may submit them in writing.

55 Redwood Drive is a property subject to a Development Appeals Board Hearing. The appellant applied for a Development Permit for a detached garage at 55 Redwood Drive. This application contravenes the City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 as follows:

     1. With the addition of the proposed detached garage, the combined floor area of accessoty buildings on the site would exceed the maximun site coverage by 80 sqaure ft as follows:

               Existing accessory building (detached garage)                          336 square feet
               Proposed accessory building (detached garage)                       780 square feet
                     Combined accessory building floor area                             1111 square feet
               Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003, Sec. 4.5.4 K maximum                   1036 square feet
                                                                                                                    80 square feet

For that reason, the Development Permit has been denied. The applicant has appealed the refusal, and is requesting variance of the Zoning Bylaw requirement to the parametres described above.

City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003

383 2nd Avenue North is a property subject to a Development Appeals Board Hearing. The appellant applied for a Development Permit to construct an addition to an existing detached garage. The proposed addition contravenes the City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 as follows:

     1. The singular Accessory Building floor area of 800 square feet is greater than the main floor area of the principle dwelling by 113 square feet;
     2. The Combined Acccessory Building floor area of 800 square feet is greater than the main floor area of the principle swelling by 113 square feet; and
     3. The Accessory Building addition proposed wall height of 15 ft is greater than the maximum allowable by 5 ft.

For those reasons, the Development Permit has been denied. The applicant has appealed the refusal, and is requesting variance of the Zoning Bylaw requirements to the parameters described above.
