Discretionary Use Application

 
The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 74 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to consider a Discretionary Use Application for: 
          440 Broadway Street West 
          Lot: E 
          Block: 63 
          Plan: 01Y02763

The Discretionary Use, which is being applied for, is to allow for the development of a Service Station in this location.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday, 08 December 2003 in City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 7:00 p.m. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the public hearing in respect to this Application is in session.

Call For Nominations
Administrative Review

 
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS 
ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW OFFICER 
FOR THE CITY OF YORKTON

The City of Yorkton is seeking nominations for potential appointment to the Office of the Administrative Review for the City of Yorkton. This person will be appointed by City Council and will investigate public complaints involving matters pertaining to the administration of the City, including its various agencies.

The Review Officer will be independent and will report directly to City Council. The Review Officer will be responsible for ensuring that public complaints are properly investigated and may be required to hold public hearings, record evidence and render written decisions. The Review Officer will be paid remuneration at the rate of approximately $125.00 per day or $62.50 per half-day plus mileage at a rate of $0.32 cents per kilometer.

The following persons are ineligible for appointment:

  1. a member of City Council; 
  2. an employee, officer or agent of the City, including all departments and agencies; or 
  3. a family member or business partner of either of the above.

All interested candidates are asked to submit an application for appointment no later than Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. to the Office of the City Clerk at Box 400, Yorkton, Sask., S3N 2W3.

Lifesaving Instructor 
Must be age 16 or older with a current Bronze Cross (within last two years) 
Fee: $140. This price includes text books and exam fees. 
Friday, December 12th to Sunday, December 14th 
Times: Friday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 
           Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. 
           Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 
Allows successful candidates to instruct lifesaving courses.

Arthritis Aquacize:
3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays 
$3.50 Drop-In Fee 
A workout designed for joint mobility.

Gloria Hayden Community Centre

 
Walking/Jogging Track

The Kinsmen Walking Track at the Gloria Hayden Community Centre is a 140m rubberized indoor track that is convenient and removed from the elements for walkers and joggers. No bookings for the track are necessary and a variety of track passes are available. The hours of operation and costs are:

Open 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday to Friday 
Noon to 5 p.m. weekends 
 $1 per visit or monthly pass for $15

Starting December 3rd, 2003, the Kinsmen Walking Track will be closed on Wednesdays from 7:30pm - 8:30pm because the Yorkton Crusaders Track Club will be training.

This will remain in effect from December 3rd, 2003 to April 2004. The City of Yorkton apologizes for any inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation.

Birthday Parties

The Gloria Hayden Community Centre takes bookings for birthday parties. The gymnasium can be booked for games and activities and tables and chairs can be set up in a separate area for birthday presents and cake.
