Property Assessment

Property assessment is an estimated value determined by appraisers using details like property size, location, and the market value as of January 1, 2023. The City uses the assessment to determine your portion of property taxes.

The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) is responsible for assessing the value of all properties in Yorkton.

We do not mail out assessment notices every year. The only time you will receive a notice is if your assessed value has changed from the year before.

Want to learn more about your notice? View the Sample Property Assessment Notice for more information.

Assessments can be viewed online at any time using SAMA's online tool. If you did not receive an assessment notice, you can use the online tool to search assessment information on your property.

Do you disagree with your assessment?

The 2025 assessment roll is scheduled to open mid-March. The roll is open for review for sixty days. This is your opportunity to review the information in detail, and notify us if there is missing or incorrect information.

If you feel that an error was made in determining your assessment you can file an appeal to correct it. The only time of year you can make an assessment appeal is while the roll is open.
