Proposed Bylaw No. 4/2005


The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to consider Proposed Bylaw No. 1/2005 to amend Zoning Bylaw No.14/2003 on the following Section:

Lots 1-9, Block 6, Registered Plan No. 00Y10405, known civically as 1, 7, 15, 21, 27, 33, 39, 45, 51 Whitesand Drive, shall be rezoned from R2 - Low Density Residential to R1 General Residential as outlined in bold on the map below:

The proposed zoning amendment will promote more compatible residential development comprised of single-family detached homes.

The proposed zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Junior Planner, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday March 18th, 2005.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday, March 21st, 2005 in City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00pm. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

Proposed Bylaw No. 7/2005


The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 7/2005 to authorize a contract zone on the following property:

Block G, Registered Plan No. 62Y08073, known civically as 77 Broadway Street West shall be rezoned (under the Contract Zoning requirements as outlined in Section 82 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983) from C1 - City Centre Commercial to C3 - Highway Commercial as shaded-in on the map below.

The rezoning of the property via contract agreement will allow for the operation of a business that provides accommodation, daytime boarding, care, sale, grooming and exercising of small animals. The proposed Bylaw is only applicable to one business section of the existing commercial building.

The proposed bylaw may be inspected in the office of the Junior Planner, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday April 1, 2005. Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday April 4, 2005 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00pm. Assessment Notices

   
Under provincial legislation, all Saskatchewan properties must be reassessed every four years. The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency has just completed a full revaluation for all property in the City of Yorkton, and the notices will be mailed out during the week of March 14-18, 2005.

These notices will detail the new assessment values used to determine how much property tax you pay. Property owners are encouraged to review the values shown on the notice, and if you have a concern about your assessment contact our Assessment Department at (306)786-1736 or (306)786-1714.

Summer Programmers

 
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR 
4 - Full Time Summer Culture, Recreation and Sport Programmer Positions

The programmers will be responsible for development of the Summer Programs within the City of Yorkton. You will be responsible for planning, marketing, implementing and evaluating the Summer Program for children and youth 6 -11 years of age.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to those with Recreation/Leisure training and/or related experience; 
  • Program delivery knowledge or experience; 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license and own transportation;
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Valid CPR and First Aid preferred; 
  • Knowledge of computers would be an asset.

Ice Time Available
Kinsmen Arena

 
Between April 1st and April 14th there is ice time available for rent at the Kinsmen Arena. An opportunity for rec hockey teams, school groups, private bookings, and other functions to get in your last minute skate before the season is over. Call 786-1777 for more information on booking.

No swimming ability is required. Focus is on cardiovascular work out.
