Public Notice
Proposed Bylaw No. 25/2005

   
The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to consider Proposed Bylaw No. 25/2005 to amend Zoning Bylaw No.14/2003 on the following Section:

Section 4.34 that states the Multi-Family/High Density Residential and Non-Residential Building Design shall be amended to exclude Ball Road Industrial Park from requirements pertaining to fašade materials. The affected area is shown within the bold dashed line on the map below.

The proposed zoning amendment will allow establishments in the Light Industrial (MI-1) district that are deficient in the required fašade materials used, to exercise the option of constructing with other types of required materials.

The proposed zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Junior Planner, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday, September 9th, 2005.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday, September 12th, 2005 in City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00 p.m. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

The Discretionary Use, which is being applied for is to allow for the development of a Bed & Breakfast Home at this location.

Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP)

 
If you had Uninsured Property Damage due to the Heavy Rain that occurred on June 17, 2005 in the City of Yorkton you may be eligible for assistance under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

You may pick up the Claim Form from the Department of Planning and Engineering on the Second Floor of City Hall located at 37 Third Avenue North. These forms are then to be returned to City Hall for submission to the Provincial Government. For further information, please call 786-1730.

Please note deadline for submission to PDAP is December 17, 2005.
 

 

  

 

Traffic Alert!
BradBrooke Drive / Gladstone Avenue

 
The City of Yorkton, under the 2005 Capital Works Program and in conjunction with the Canada Saskatchewan Infrastructure Program (CSIP), will commence construction on the Bradbrooke Drive / Gladstone Avenue intersection on Thursday, September 1st, 2005. This project is expected to be completed in 3-4 weeks. During construction, efforts will be made to keep the east-west legs of the intersection open, however residents are encouraged to use the alternate routes designated in the map below.

Kinsmen Arena Concession Clerk(s)


The City of Yorkton is seeking friendly and energetic Concession Clerk(s) for the upcoming busy winter season at our Kinsmen Arena.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of foods and serving the public by providing courteous, friendly service. 
  • Operate kitchen equipment including grill, deep fryer, popcorn machine, coffee urn, etc.
  • Maintain positive attitude with users, general public, and working cooperatively with all City Departments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Collect monies, issue receipts, balance cash daily and compile statistics related to concession and facility usage.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Monitor concession equipment operation, and report situations requiring attention.
  • Perform janitorial duties within the concession as may be required.
  • Perform duties without close supervision.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Parks Supervisor.

Qualifications: 

  • Related experience in the food and beverage industry. 
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Safe Food Handling Certificate from Saskatchewan Health. 
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and courteously with the public and other civic employees.
  • Knowledge and experience operating all types of kitchen equipment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Provincial driver's license.
  • Possession of or ability to attain a valid recognized first aid certificate.
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP Security Clearance.

Salary:      To commensurate based on experience

Hours of Work:     Shift work, evening, weekend and holiday work is involved
