The lots indicated in Table 1 above shall be rezoned (under the Contract Zoning requirements as outlined in Section 82 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007)from Arterial Commercial (Transitional) CT-2 Zoning District to Contract Zone (CZ), providing for single detached dwellings as permitted in the General Residential R-1 Zoning District, pursuant to the contract terms, as shown on the map below.

The rezoning of the property via contract agreement will allow for the use of these lots for single detached dwellings for a temporary period of 15-years.  At the expiration of the temporary period, the Contract Zone (CZ) District shall automatically lapse, and the zoning shall revert back to Arterial Commercial (Transitional) CT-2 Zoning District.  In addition, any residential use in the temporary Contract Zone (CZ) Zoning District can be replaced at any time by a use that is permitted in the Arterial Commercial (Transitional) CT-2 Zoning District.

The proposed bylaw zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday August 15, 2008.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday August 18, in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00pm. All submissions must be submitted in writing by 12:00 noon Thursday August 14, 2008.  Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 26/2008, which is an amendment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 to permit the reduction in: the required minimum front yard setback from 9.0m to 3.05m, the required minimum side yard setback from 4.5m to 0.0m, and the required minimum rear yard setback from 7.5m to 0.3m, for Lot E, Block 22, Registered Plan No. 00Y08164, civically known as 351 Fifth Avenue North.

The proposed bylaw zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday August 15, 2008.

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 28/2008, which is an amendment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 to permit the reduction in the required minimum front yard setback from 6.0m to 4.33m, for Lot PD, Block C, Registered Plan No. 34120, known civically as 93 Haultain Avenue.

The proposed bylaw zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday August 15, 2008.

Riverside Meadows - Multi-Family Lots

The City of Yorkton is offering for sale 17 multi-family lots.  These lots will be released for purchase through a lot draw to be held on August 25, 2008.  Please refer to the map below for lot location, size and price. These lots are located on Good Spirit Crescent continuing north on the existing street.  These lots are zoned R-3 on the west side of the street and R-2 on the east side, which allows for the development of buildings such as, Three or Four Unit Dwellings, Townhouses, Semi-detached, Duplexes, etc.

Lots will be offered for sale – 1 per Individual or Contractor.  If there are more lots available then there are names submitted, those interested will be allowed to resubmit their name for an additional lot.  The name appearing on the request for the lot draw will be the name placed on the Transfer of Title.  Interested parties are to submit their written request to participate in the lot draw by one of three ways:

  1. Filling out the form on the web site or;
  2. Sending an email to or;
  3. Dropping off a written request to the Office of the City Clerk, located on the 2nd Floor at City Hall, 37 Third Avenue North, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Your submission must include your Name(s), (as it will appear on the Title Transfer) along with your address and daytime phone number.  All submissions must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2008. 

If entering the Lot Draw through the web site or by email, you will receive an automatic response to your submission.  If you drop off your submission you will receive a written receipt.  You will then be contacted by telephone the week of August 18th to confirm your submission and participation in the lot draw.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you have received a phone call by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20th.  If you have not been contacted by telephone at that time, please call 786-1717 to confirm that you have been placed on the lot draw list.

Fire Department Relocation

The City of Yorkton Fire Department has relocated to 33 Foster Street.  The administration hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. until the end of August and then Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

 

 

Street Closure Notice

Water Works Manager

Applications Are Invited For The Position Of
     Water Works Manager

Yorkton is seeking a key player for its Environmental Services Management Team.  If you are interested in a high quality of life and a low cost of living, then Yorkton will appeal to you.  Located on the Yellowhead Highway, Yorkton is a vibrant and progressive community of approximately 16,000 people serving as a hub to the beautiful Parkland region.  Due to its large trading area, Yorkton has many larger city amenities and provides the quality of life of a smaller community.

Reporting to the Director of Environmental Services, the Water Works Manager is responsibility is to provide front line technical support and primary supervision for the Water Treatment Plant, Pollution Control Plant and Landfill. The Water Works Manager will supervise analytical laboratory work for operations, process and quality control, co-ordinates the mainline flushing program with the Sewer and Water Foreman, manage the bio-solids application, oversees personnel administration, budget preparation, control and reporting systems and landfill operations.

The Water Works Manager is responsible for hiring, training, performance and follow-up within a unionized environment. Must be able to meet the objectives and policies as set by the City.  The position is also given great latitude for creative and innovative opportunities.  The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A diploma in Civil Engineering or Water Science Technology or equivalent.
  • Possess or be able to obtain Saskatchewan Environment Certification in: Wastewater Treatment Class 4, Water Treatment Class 3, Water Distribution Class 3, Wastewater Collection Class 3.
  • Obtain Fireman’s Certification.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a working knowledge of; analytical lab equipment, procedures, quality control, computer spreadsheet and word processing programs, as well as, excellent verbal, written and supervisory skills.
  • A high degree of personal initiative, good planning and organizational skills.
  • Five years experience with at least two years at the supervisory level demonstrating a thorough knowledge of water and wastewater.
  • Eligibility for membership in SASTT.
  • A team player fostering positive communication with staff, contractors and citizens.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.

Full Time Firefighter

FULL TIME FIRE FIGHTER

Yorkton is seeking the services of a Fire Fighter to full a full-time position.  Located on the Yellowhead Highway, Yorkton is a vibrant and progressive community of approximately 17, 000 people serving as a hub to the Parkland region.  Due to its large trading area, Yorkton has many large city amenities while maintaining a smaller community quality of life.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working as a member of a team, mitigates emergencies involving fires, dangerous goods incidents and emergency rescue work; performs fire prevention and inspection duties as assigned, maintains fire department apparatus and facility; participates in required training and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum of N.F.P.A. 1001 Level II I.F.S.A.C. Fire Fighter certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certificates;
  • Must possess and maintain valid Class 5 driver’s license, with Air Brakes Endorsement;
  • Must be in good physical fitness, pass a physical fitness evaluation and maintain a high standard of physical conditioning being able to perform physical fire fighting duties under adverse conditions;
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP Security Clearance;
  • Provide a medical certificate signifying that no disabling conditions exist which may prohibit effective and efficient job performance, or jeopardize the health and safety of co-workers;
  • Must meet the Canadian Vision Standard for Fire Fighters;
  • Successfully complete Fire Department job related skill testing;

SALARY:  In accordance with the current Fire Fighters Collective Agreement.

Dog and Bike Licenses

Please be advised that dog and bike licenses are no longer available from the Fire Department.

Dog licenses will still be available at the following locations:

  • Animal Management Services & Pet Clinic Ltd.
  • Companion Animal Hospital
  • Paw Prints Pet Styling
  • SPCA

Bike licenses may be purchased from the Gallagher Center Information Kiosk.  The Kiosk hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 10:00 p.m.
