City of Yorkton Welcomes New Director of Recreation & Community Services

The City of Yorkton is pleased to announce the appointment of Taylor Morrison as its new Director of Recreation and Community Services (RCS). Taylor brings 10 years of experience with the City of Yorkton in public service, most recently as the General Manager of the Gallagher Centre since 2019. Taylor begins his new role as Director of RCS on July 3, 2023. 

Prior to his time as General Manager, Taylor started with the City of Yorkton as a summer student, assisting during the response to the 2010 flood. He then officially began his career with the City in 2013 as a Recreation Co-ordinator before being promoted to Recreation Services Manager in 2016.

“Taylor’s composed leadership style, strong communication skills and calm demeanor will serve us well and I look forward to working with Taylor to continue the good work being done in the Recreation and Community Services department,” said Lonnie Kaal, CAO, City of Yorkton.

This position became possible with the retirement of the previous Director, Darcy McLeod. Darcy celebrated 25 years with the City on April 1, 2023 and has been a valued member of the City’s senior executive team since 2002. Darcy began his service to the residents of Yorkton on April 1, 1998 as the Facilities Supervisor for the Leisure Services Department (renamed CDPR in 2010 and RCS in 2021), before assuming the Director duties in 2002, a position he has held for the past 20 plus years.

We would like to thank Darcy for his hard work and dedication over the past 25 years.

The City of Yorkton is also pleased to announce the appointment of Dale Brock as its new General Manager at the Gallagher Centre. Dale joins us from the private sector, and specifically from Canadian Tire where he has worked in various leadership roles over the past 20 years, including a number of years with the corporate office. Most recently Dale was the General Manager of the Canadian Tire store here in Yorkton, a position he held since 2018.

Dale begins his new role as General Manager of the Gallagher Centre on July 3, 2023.
