Yorkton City Council and City Manager Part Ways

At a Special Meeting of Council on Thursday, February 1, 2024, Council voted to relieve
the City Manager, Lonnie Kaal of her duties. Mayor Mitch Hippsley states “I am very
grateful for all Ms. Kaal’s guidance, vision and commitment to the City of Yorkton both
in the Finance Department and as City Manager for the 30 years she has served
collectively. I sincerely wish her a healthy and successful future in all she endeavors to
do.”


He further states that Council feels that a change in leadership at this level is required at
this time and is confident that Council can be united in the selection of the next City
Manager for the future of Yorkton.


At the Special Meeting, City Council subsequently appointed Michael Eger as interim
City Manager until the position is filled in permanence.
