2024 Maintenance to the Water Tower

You may have noticed our city's tallest sign has gotten a bit easier to read recently. That's right, the Water Tower is currently getting a makeover! We're doing some much-needed paint touch-ups, equipment repairs and replacements, and even upgrading the flight beacon.

But don’t worry, your water service will continue as usual without interruption.

March 6, 2024 - The goal of the Airport Terminal Building Replacement project is to replace the existing terminal amenities in a modernized, cost-efficient manner. Dumping snow on City streets or City-owned property

Dumping snow into the street, lane or onto City-owned property, including ditches or green spaces is not allowed as per our Traffic Bylaw.

Extra snow on City streets can make it hard for vehicles to drive through before the snow plows are able to clear the streets.  Also, by moving snow from your property onto City property or streets, you may be unintentionally contributing to drainage issues in the springtime.

City Council approves 2024 Operating and 2024/2025 Capital Budgets

Yorkton City Council approved the 2024 Operating and 2024/2025 Capital Budget at the February 26th council meeting. The City thanks all residents, organizations and business owners in Yorkton who filled out the online Public Review form or spoke to Council or Administration in the weeks leading up to budget adoption.

Proposed 2024 Operating and Capital Budgets Available for Public Review

The City of Yorkton has released its proposed 2024 budget, which includes an increase in total taxation revenue of $983,745 (or 3.5%).

The proposed budget includes the City’s plan to continue to invest in city assets and infrastructure improvements, while continuing to provide the same levels of services as the prior year. Key items affecting all departments include costs increases related to inflation, the carbon tax, and rising construction costs.
