Public Consultation Notice
Downtown Redevelopment Planning Charrette

October 28, 29 and 30th, 2004 after 5:00pm
At the TRAVELODGE YORKTON (345 Broadway Street West)

Community Input Needed

The City of Yorkton is pleased to invite you to the Downtown Redevelopment Planning Charrette public viewing and feedback area being held on October 28, 29 and 30 of 2004 after 5:00pm. "Charrette" is an architectural term for a collaborative planning process that produces tangible results. The full three-day Charrette will be an engaging design effort between all stakeholders of the redevelopment plan and is offering opportunities for public viewing and feedback. The Charrette will harness the talents of all its participants and, together we will create buildable plans for the future.

With assistance from the Canadian Housing and Mortgage Corporation and our consultant team of Hilderman Thomas Frank Cram, the Downtown Redevelopment Planning Charrette will focus primarily on generating implementation plans for the downtown Study Area and includes addressing issues such as traffic and circulation patterns, park and greenspace, housing, commercial space and streetscaping. The charrette will build on the extensive work that was done by the City's Planning and Engineering Department, the Downtown Steering Committee, the Municipal Planning Commission, public focus groups and local and provincial agencies in the past year. You are invited to spend time viewing and critiquing design options for pedestrians, mixed land uses, building footprints, building architecture and site plans within the Study Area.

The Charrette public viewing area will be held on October 28, 29 and 30 at the Travelodge Yorkton (345 Broadway Street West) in the Regency Conference Room. The doors open at 5:00pm.

We believe that the time has come for us as a community to take a sincere and committed look into revitalizing and redeveloping Downtown Yorkton. The City of Yorkton needs you to share in this important endeavor.
