Assessment Roll

Public Notice is hereby given that pursuant to subsection 187(1) of The Cities Act, the assessment roll for the City of Yorkton for the year 2005 has been prepared and is open to inspection in the office of the assessor from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following days: March 21, 2005 to April 19, 2005.

Any person who wishes to appeal against his or her assessment or classification to the Board of Revision is required to file his or her appeal with: The Assessor, City of Yorkton, P.O. Box 400, Yorkton, Saskatchewan, S3N 2W3 by the 19th day of April, 2005.

Public Notice
Proposed Bylaw No. 9/2005

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 9/2005 to authorize a contract zone on the following property:

Lot 39 and the Southeast Half of Lot 38, Block 35, Registered Plan No. 63Y00274, known civically as 393 Parkview Road shall be rezoned (under the Contract Zoning requirements as outlined in Section 82 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983) from R2 - Low Density Residential to CZ - Contract Zone providing for R4 - High Density Residential as shaded - in on the map below.

The rezoning of the property via contract agreement will provide the owner with building replacement to the value of the existing eight-plex dwelling (dwelling rowhouse) in the event of an insurance claim resulting from the destruction of the building.

The proposed bylaw and contract may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday April 29, 2005.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday May 2, 2005 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00pm. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

Downtown Parking 

Free Parking: A person may park a vehicle downtown on any block on any street (except where otherwise posted), once daily occupying only one (1) parking stall, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and once daily, occupying only one (1) parking stall between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for a maximum of 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, Monday to Friday.

There is also free parking available in the parking lot located at the corner of Betts Ave. and Smith Street (west side).

Worry-Free Parking: You may purchase a worry-free, full-day parking pass in the downtown core at a cost of: 
$10         1 month 
$20         3 months 
$30         6 months 
$50       12 months

Valid at all City of Yorkton parking lots which are located at the corner of First Ave. & Smith St. (east side); corner of First Ave. & Smith St. (west side of Fire Hall); Fifth Ave. between Broadway & Smith St. (west side); and Myrtle Ave. between Broadway & Smith St.

Parking Meter Rates: 1) Downtown Parking: Coin-operated meters are available for parking to a maximum of 15 minutes in certain "high demand" areas.
2) Public Parking lots: Coin-operated meters are offered for your convenience at the following rates: 
$0.10 25 minutes
$0.25 1 hour 
Maximum five-hour limit.
Parking Tickets: For your convenience, there is a slot located in the front entrance of City Hall for the purpose of paying parking tickets, water bills, etc.

Aquatic Centre News

Exercise in the water at the Comfort Inn -- Drop in fee is $4 per visit. 
9:00 - 10:00 am Monday, Wednesday, Friday 
1:00 - 2:00 pm Tuesday, Thursday 
8:00 - 9:00 pm Monday, Thursday 
No swimming ability is required. Focus is on cardiovascular work out.
